Dover, Del. (Oct. 17, 2017) --- Delaware State senior Elizabeth Burkholder (Lancaster, Pa.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for her performance in the Hornets’ season opening competition last weekend.

Burkholder has been named MEAC Bowler-of-the-Week after topping the Hornets and finishing fourth among 116 competitors with an average of 215.0 ( 1,075 total pinfall) in five traditional games at the Kutztown University Bud Whitman Memorial.

She posted a high of 264, the second-best single-game score of the tournament; and also rolled a 253, fourth-best in the field.

Burkholder helped lead Delaware State to a 9-1 overall record in the tournament, 5-0 in traditional games and 4-1 in Baker competition.

In addition, she and DSU teammate Chelsey Merklinger (sr.) were named to the Bud Whitman Memorial All-Tournament Team.
