Mackenzie Maples
Assistant Coach

Maples, a native of Corona, Cal., is in her second year on the Delaware State coaching staff.

She joined the Hornets after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Coker College in Hartsville, S.C.

While at Coker College, she helped lead Coker to a 41-17 overall record and an appearance in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) championship game in 2017.

A total of six Coker players earned All-SAC recognition and 10 were selected to the Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Academic Team last season.

Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Maples was softball and track & field standout at the College of Charleston (S.C.).

In her first season at Charleston, she helped lead the Cougars to the Southern Conference championship. That year, she was selected as the Southern Conference Co-Rookie of the Year and named to the league’s All-Freshman Team.

Maples was selected by her teammates as Charleston’s Defensive Player-of-the-Year during her senior season in 2015.

She ranks third on the team’s all-time list for runs batted in (115) and second in doubles (40), while placing in the top ten in games started (209) and hits (182).

Maples helped lead C of C to 138 wins in her career (.611 win percentage).  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a master’s in Business Administration from the College of Charleston.
