West Hartford, Conn. (Sep. 3, 2017) --- Hartford scored two goals in each period to post its first win of the season against visiting Delaware State on Sunday. Four players tallied their first goals of the year for the Hawks in the match.

Hartford’s Sierra Stone opened the scoring with a shot from close range off a feed from Bridgette Alexander in the 19th minute.

About eight minutes later, Kaila Lozada gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead on a shot off a breakaway.

Hartford (1-3-1) scored twice in the second period on shots by Skylar Vitiello (66th minute) and Julia Carr (89th).

The Hawks outshot the Hornets 21-2. Alexa Gibbs recorded DSU’s lone shot on goal in the second period.

Delaware State goal keeper Leslie Fazio was credited with 11 saves, including eight in the first period.

The Hornets (0-7) will also play their next two matches on the road, at the Citadel on Fri. (Sep. 10) and Charleston Southern next Sunday (Sep. 10).

DSU’s next home contest is Sep. 14 against George Washington at the DE Turf Sports Complex in Frederica, Del.
