Dr. Sonja Jackson-McCoy was brought on staff to Delaware State in February 2009 as the Associate Director of Mentoring and Advising. In 2014, she appointed as the Associate Athletic Director for Acadmeic Services.
Prior to coming aboard at DSU, Dr. McCoy’s seven years higher education work experience included positions at East Tennessee State University in the School of Graduate Studies and in the Office of Financial Aid. Dr. McCoy also served as an advisor for the Black Graduate Student Association and as a member of both the Diversity Committee and the Black Faculty and Staff Association.
Dr. McCoy’s seven years experience in the financial services sector includes: Consumer Lending (both Banking and Consumer Finance), Office Management, and Tax Preparation.
Dr. McCoy has proactively served her community through her Board of Director status with: the Marion County Habitat for Humanity, the Marion County Boys and Girls Club, and the South Columbia SDA Church. As a member of the above organizations she is mentally, physically, and fiscally supportive.
Along with her financial certifications, Dr. McCoy has earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, a Master’s degree in city management and a Doctor of Education degree in the educational leadership policy and analysis program with a Postsecondary and Private Sector concentration from East Tennessee State University.
