Dover, Del. (Mar. 14, 2019) --- Delaware State will be the No. 2 seed in the 2019 United Equestrian Conference Tournament Mar. 21-23 in Tennessee.
The Hornets will face No. 3 seed Fresno State in the tournament semifinals on Mar. 22. Top seed SMU will take on the winner of the South Dakota State / Tennessee Martin opening round contest on Mar. 21.
The semifinal winners will battle for the tournament championship on Mar. 23 at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavillion in Martin, Tenn.
Delaware State split two meetings with Fresno State during the 2018-19 regular season.
Delaware State won the first contest 9-6 on Sep. 29 in Waco, Tex. The Hornets won the Western competition 5-2, while the teams battled to a 4-4 tie in the Hunter Seat rides. Amber Van Segbrook (Reining) and Sydney Wicklund (Flat) earned Most Outstanding Performer honors in the first regular season meeting between the teams.
Fresno State won the second meeting 13-5 on Feb. 2 at its home facility in California.
Among the other tournament teams, the Hornets defeated Tennessee Martin 9-7 on Sep. 29, fell to SMU 8-6 on Nov. 16 and topped South Dakota State 10-9 on Mar. 2 during the 2018-19 season.
