Dover, Del. (Apr. 7, 2013) --- Emily Peets (so.; Pittsford, N.Y.) tallied her team-leading eighth goal and Sierra Harris (so.; Wilmington, Del.) recorded  her fifth score in Delaware State’s 14-2 loss to Colgate in a women’s lacrosse contest at Alumni Stadium today.

The Raiders won their third straight game to improve to 7-6 this season. The Hornets, in their first year of competition, fell to 0-10.

Colgate led 2-0 when the Hornets got on the board. Peets ran through the Raider defense and fired a shot into the net with 25:01 left in the first period to cut Colgate’s lead in half.

The Raiders scored the next six goals to open up an 8-1 lead.

Harris scored the Hornets’ second goal on a free position shot with 6:32 left in the opening period to cut the Raiders’ lead to 8-2.

Peets also leads the Hornets with eight points. Sarris has two assists to rank second on the team with seven points.

Delaware State goal keeper Kirkland Lewis (gr.; Lansdale, Pa.) was credited with four saves in the game.

A total of 10 players scored for Colgate in the contest. Megan Ark led the way with three goals and three assists for a game-high six points.

After a visit to Virginia Tech on April 13, the Hornets will close out their inaugural season on Apr; 23 at home against Wilmington (Del.) University (7:00 p.m.).
