Norfolk, Va. (Mar. 10, 2013) --- Delaware State University guard Tahj Tate (so.; Easley, S.C) has been selected to the 2012-13 All-MEAC Second Team, in voting by league head coaches and sports information representatives announced today.

Tate, the 2011-12 MEAC Rookie-of-the-Year, ranks 10th in the league in scoring at 12.6 points per game this season. He has reached double figures in scoring in 19 of the 29 games he's played this season. In addition, he has led the Hornets in scoring in 12 games.

Pendarvis Williams of Norfolk State was selected as the 2012-13 MEAC Player-of-the-Year, while Deron Power of Hampton is the league's top rookie. The Defensive Player-of-the-Year is Austin Witter of North Carolina A&T.

Anthony Evans, who led defending champion Norfolk State to a perfect league record and No. 1 MEAC Tournament seed, was selected as the 2012-13 Coach-of-the-Year.

Delaware State will take on Howard in the opening round of the 2013 MEAC Tournament on Tues. (Mar. 12) at 9:00 p.m. at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. The Hornets are the No. 6 tournament seed, while the Bison are seeded 11th.

DSU swept two meetings between the teams during the regular season.

The winner of the Delaware State/Howard contest will face No. 3 seed Hampton in the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
