Delaware State (10-12; 5-3 MEAC) takes on surging Hampton in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest. Game time is 8 p.m. at the HU Convocation Center. The game will air live on

The Hornets are trying to rebound from a 74-56 loss to league leader Norfolk State on Saturday. DSU trailed 32-26 at the half and was down by just five with less than 15 minutes to play. The Hornets were outscored 32-19 the rest of the way. Marques Oliver posted his second double-double of the season for the Hornets, leading the team with 16 points and topping all players with 14 rebounds against Norfolk State. Miles Bowman came off the bench to add 11 points for DSU. Bowman was 4-for-6 from the field and 3-of-3 at the free throw line in the contest. Delaware State is currently fifth in the MEAC standings, 1/2 game behind fourth place Hampton. A Hornet win would move DSU ahead of the Pirates into fourth place in the league standings.

Hampton brings a four-game win streak into the game. Each of the wins has come on the road. The Pirates posted a 71-68 overtime win at Savannah State in their most recent contest (Feb. 7). Deron Powers (7-12 FGs) led five Hampton players in double figures with 15 points in the game.  The Pirates trailed by as many as eight points in the second half  before battling back.

This is the first of two meetings between the teams this season. The Hornets swept two contests  between the teams during the 2011-12  season, winning 77-69 in the first meeting at Delaware State; and completing the sweep with a 74-68 double-overtime win in the second contest at Hampton. Tahj Tate and Marques Oliver tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds each for the Hornets in last year's meeting at Hampton. The Hornets and Pirates are scheduled to meet again on February 25 at Delaware State's Memorial Hall.
