Dover, Del. (Feb. 2, 2013) --- Delaware State suffered its first home loss of the season, falling to North Carolina Central 54-43 in a MEAC men's basketball contest in Memorial Hall today.

The Hornets were 5-0 at home this season entering the contest. The loss also snapped a three-game win streak for DSU, which fell to 9-11 overall and 4-2 in the MEAC

Delaware State cut a 13-point halftime deficit to four early in the second half, but the Eagles fought off the challenge with a 15-2 run to seal the win.

North Carolina Central won its eighth in a row to improve to 14-7 overall and 7-0 in league play.

Jeremy Ingram led the Eagles with a game-high 20 points, while teammate Stanton Kidd added 13 points and led all players with 11 rebounds. Ingram was 7-for-13 from the field, including three three-point shots.

Casey Walker and Amere May led Delaware State with 11 points each.

The Hornets were  two-for-17 on three-point shots (11.8%) and three-of-12 at the free throw line (25.0%).

Delaware State held its only lead of the game, 4-1, after a four-point play by Tahj Tate (9 points) early in the contest.

Ingram answered with a three-point shot for the Eagles to tie the game on the next possession. North Carolina Central took the lead in the next minute and never headed the rest of the way.

The Eagles led 11-8 before going a 10-2 run to open up a double-digit lead. NCCU pulled ahead 21-10 on a three-pointer by Ingram with 8:48 left in the first half.

Delaware State trailed 34-21 at the break.

The Hornets outscored NCCU 12-3 to start the second half, and pulled to within 37-33 on a jump hook by Marques Oliver with 13:27 left to play.

DSU trailed 39-35 before NCCU's decisive second half run.

The Hornets will try to get back on the winning track at home against North Carolina A&T n Monday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall
