Dover (June 24, 2009) --- Delaware State's 2009 men's outdoor track & field team continues to earn national recognition. Freshman Leslie Murray and sophomore Donte Holmes has each been named to the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association 2009 NCAA Division I All-East Region Team for two events.
Murray has been honored for his accomplishments in the 400-meter hurdles, and as a member of Delaware State's 1600-meter relay team, while Holmes is being cited for his achievements in the 800-meter run and the relay team.
A 2009 Division I All-American, Murray was sixth in the final of the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA National Championships earlier this month. He also captured the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship last month, and is the school record holder in the event.
Holmes also earned All-America honors after finishing 11th in the 800 meters at the NCAA Nationals this month. He has qualified for the national championships in each of his two years at DSU. The school record holder in the 800-meter run, Holmes also captured the MEAC outdoor championship this year.
In addition, Delaware State's Burton Clarke and Brycen Davis earned NCAA Division I All-East Region honors as members of the Hornets' 1600-meter relay team, which finished 10th in the 2009 NCAA National Championship.
