Dover, Del. (Dec. 3, 2019) --- Delaware State University student-athletes, coaches and staff members recently joined in the statewide effort to bring holiday cheer to families and individuals in need. The Hornet athletics family participated in the 37thAnnual NOR Enterprises and Our Youth Inc. Turkey Drive last week.
The event brought together dignitaries from Governor Carney, U.S. Senator Chris Coons and U.S. Representative Lisa Blount Rochester, to citizens from throughout the state to hand out turkeys and other staples to families in all three Delaware counties at local Boys & Girls Club facilities.
The Hornets athletics volunteers included members of DSU baseball, women's basketball, women's lacrosse, equestrian, bowling and cheer squads.
NOR Enterprises in sponsorship with the Food Lion supermarket chain distributed more than 6,000 turkeys during last week's event.
