HORNETS NO MATCH FOR BUCCANEERS

Johnson City, Tenn. (Nov. 23, 2019) --- Daivien Williamson came off the bench to lead five East Tennessee State double-figure scorers with 17 points in the Bucs' 98-66 victory over Delaware State today.

Bo Hodges added 16 points on seven of 11 shooting from the field, while Jeromy Rodriguez tallied 15 points (5-7 FG; 5-7 FT) and a team-high seven rebounds for the Buccaneers.

Pinky Wiley (jr.) was the only Delaware State starter to score in double figures with a season-high 17 points, while Myles Carter came off the bench to add 12 on six-of-nine shooting from the field. Wiley was 8-for-8 at the free throw line, although he struggled from the field, hitting just three of 12 shots.

John Crosby, Delaware State's leading scorer entering the contest at 19.8 points per game, was held to a season-low nine points on four-of-12 shooting.  

East Tennessee State led 12-5 after four minutes and stretched the lead to 17-5 on three-point play by Hodges to cap off an 8-0 run with 15:13 left in the first half.

Delaware State pulled to within eight points on two occasions later in the opening half, but could get no closer.

The Bucs used a 9-0 run to build a 41-22 lead, and stretched their advantage to 56-29 at the break.

Delaware State hit just 11 of their 31 first half shots (35.5%), while East Tennessee State shot 51.6% in the first 20 minutes (16-for-31).

The Bucs led by as many as 40 points in the second half.

East Tennessee State held a 47-28 rebound edge, while also holding 22-12 advantage on points in the paint (22-12).

Delaware State will face Charleston Southern in Johnson City Tennessee State on Sunday (Nov. 24) at 12:30 p.m. Eastern.
