DSU TO HOST OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD EVENT

Dover, Del. (Apr. 23, 2019) --- For the first time since 2014, Delaware State will host a track and field meet on its campus. The Hornets will welcome Coppin State and Maryland-Eastern Shore, along with a number of unattached runners, jumpers and throwers for the DSU Hornet Outdoor Invitational on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.   

Among the top performers for the Hornet men this outdoor season is Julian Brown, who has the ninth best time in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in the 400 meter hurdles at 54.56 seconds. DSU's Kavante Dawson has the MEAC's 10th best 400 meter hurdle time at 54.81 seconds.

Dawson has the Hornets' top 110 meter hurdle time this season at 15.17 seconds, while Brown is No. 18 in the MEAC in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.69 seconds.

On the women's side, DSU's Jolena Smith is No. 7 in the MEAC in the javelin with a top throw of 31.6 meters, while Precious Igwebuike has the MEAC's eighth-best Heptathlon performance with 3985 points.

Katarzyna Rosikon has the 13th best performance in 5000 meter run and No. 19 in the 1500 meters (5:04.48).
