HORNETS UPEND ST. FRANCIS AT SITE OF U.S. OPEN

Flushing Meadows, N.Y. (Apr. 13, 2019) ---The Delaware State women's tennis team made the most of its second visit to one of the sports' most famous venues.  The Hornets defeated St. Francis Brooklyn 4-3 today at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the U.S. Open.

Delaware State won four of the six singles matches to key the victory. The Hornets won the numbers one-to-four singles contests in straight sets.

DSU's Sofia Rachi posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jean-Na Koo in the No. 1 singles match, while Anastasia Belkina was a winner for the Hornets at No. 2, besting Sheila Cetina 6-1, 6-2.

In the No. 3 contest, Delaware State's Cassandra Boltman won 6-3, 6-0 over Runsi Patro; and Alina Polyvana gave the Hornets a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ana Orocco at No. 4.

Rachi and Belkina also teamed up for a 7-5 win for the Hornets in the No. 1 doubles match.

Delaware State defeated St. Francis 4-0 at the Billie Jean King Center in 2017.
