BEARS COMPLETE SOFTBALL SWEEP OF HORNETS

Baltimore, Md. (Apr. 7, 2019) --- Erica Hawkins and Stephanie Rundlett combined on a three-hit shutout in Morgan State's 8-0 MEAC win over Delaware State to complete a three series sweep.  The Bears outscored the Hornets 16-0 in the series.

Hawkins pitched the first four innings, allowing one hit and striking out one without a walk, while Rundlett threw the last two innings, surrendering two hits and striking out one.

Jade King had a double in the fifth inning for the Hornets' lone extra base hit in the series. Jasmine Melgoza singled in the first inning and Jonah Cunnigan had a base hit in the sixth for the only other DSU hits in the game.

Damali Young was three-for- four with two runs batted in to lead Morgan State's 11-hit attack.

The Hornets return to action with a doubleheader at the University of Delaware on Wed. (Apr. 10). Game one is set to start at 2:00 p.m.  in Newark, Del.
