Dover, Del. (Apr. 7, 2019) --- Lexie Kinmond and Kaitlyn Wandelt scored five goals each to lead Detroit Mercy to a 20-5 Southern Conference women's lacrosse victory over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium today.   

Kinmond also tallied four assists for a game-high nine points, while Wandelt added an assist in the contest.

Olivia Summerville led the Hornets with two goals.

The game was scoreless until Detroit drew first blood on a score by Morgan Girardi at the 23:17 mark of the first period. The Titans also scored the next four goals, including two by Wandelt, to open up a 5-0 lead.

The Hornets got on the board on Summerville's first goal of the game off a pass from Imani Hill with 17:20 left in the opening period.

DSU scored again two minutes later on a shot by Mia Moseley to cut the Titans' lead to 5-2.

Detroit scored the final six goals of the period to hold an 11-2 lead at the half.

The Titans were ahead 14-2 when Tamrin Swann scored on a free position shot for the Hornets. DSU's Dachelle Johnson scored her first goal of the season a minute later to pull the Hornets to within 14-4 at the 19:23 mark of the second period.

Summerville scored her second goal of the game with 7:20 left to play to cut Detroit's lead to 17-5. She leads DSU with 11 goals and 13 points this season.

The Hornets will play their final home game of the season next Sat. (Apr. 13) against Stetson. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
