Dover, Del. (Apr. 5, 2019) --- Jocelyne Lemay and Anna Schoonover scored three goals each to lead Central Michigan to a 19-1 victory over Delaware State in the Hornets' Southern Conference opener at Alumni Stadium today.
Jessica Schuchardt had a goal and four assists for a team-high points, while Courtney Burke tallied a goal and three assists for the Chippewas.
Olivia Summerville scored the lone goal for Delaware State.
Central Michigan (4-7; 1-1 SoCon) jumped out to the early lead with four goals in the first eight-minutes-seven seconds of the game, including two by Lemay and one for Schoonover.
Summerville scored for the Hornets at the 20:24 mark of the first period to cut the Chippewas' lead to 4-1.
Central Michigan scored the last seven goals of the period to hold an 11-1 lead at intermission.
The Hornets were outscored 8-0 in the second period.
The Chippewas held a 26-8 shots advantage.
Delaware State (1-6; 0-1 SoCon) is back in action at home on Sunday with a conference match-up against Detroit Mercy. Start time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Alumni Stadium.
