DSU EDGED OUT BY FRESNO STATE IN UEC TOURNAMENT

Martin, Tenn. (Mar. 22, 2019) --- The Delaware State equestrian team fell short in its bid for a berth in the United Equestrian Conference championship competition.

The second-seeded Hornets fell to No. 3 Fresno State 9-7 in the tournament semifinals today.

The Bulldogs' 5-3 advantage in the Hunter Seat competition was the difference in the contest. The teams battled to a 4-4 tie in the Western rides.

DSU's performance was highlighted by a 3-1 victory in the Reining. Shelbe Jarrett topped all Reining riders with a score of 136.0 to earn a point for the Hornets. Angelina Watts (131.5) and Amber Van Segbrook (133) also collected Reining points for Delaware State in the contest.

Blayne Bell recorded Delaware State's lone Horsemanship victory with a score of 149.

Sydney Wicklund was a dual winner in the Hunter Seat competition, collecting a point for the Hornets with a Fences score of 154 and a total of 109 on the Flat.

All-UEC selection Gabrielle Fournier also picked up a Fences point with a score of 157 for DSU.
