DSU THIRD AFTER OPENING DAY OF MEAC MEET 2

Greensboro, N.C. (Feb. 23, 2019) --- The Delaware State bowling team posted a 2-2 record in traditional matches today to stand third in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings after day one of the second conference meet this season.

The top six teams in the standings qualify for the MEAC Championship Tournament next month.

The Hornets fell to defending conference champ North Carolina A&T (1044-931) and Morgan State (818-801), before closing out the day with wins over Bethune-Cookman (989-620) and Florida A&M (978-839).

North Carolina A&T is the league leader heading into Sunday's final matches of the conference season with a 12-1 record, while MEAC associate member Alabama-Birmingham is second at 12-2.

Individually, Alexis Neuer (jr.) was tops on the Hornets and second among 75 competitors with a total pinfall of 990 for a five-game average of 198.0. Neuer had a high game of 226 in game five and 216 in the opening match.

DSU's Olivia Laird (sr.) was fifth in the individual standings with a 947 total pinfall and 189.4 average. Laird posted a score of 222 in Saturday's final match.

The second MEAC round-up of the season will conclude with Baker play on Sunday in Greensboro, N.C.
