THE GAME 

Delaware State plays it next-to-last non-MEAC game of the season, visiting Weber State of the Big Sky Conference. The Hornets are coming off a 73-71 victory at First State rival Delaware on Wednesday. Kevin Larkin (sr.) scored the winning points on a follow-up basket with 3.4 seconds left to play. The winning shot capped off a stellar performance for Larkin, who led DSU with 22 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. He currently leads the Hornets in scoring at 15.6 points per game and is rebounding at 9.0 per contest. The Georgetown, Del., native and Sussex Tech (Del.) High School product, transferred to Delaware State for his final season after competed for two seasons at
Niagara (N.Y.).   

 

The win at Delaware was DSU's first against a Division I opponent this season and snapped a 27-game road losing streak, dating back to 2016-17 campaign.

 

Saleik Edwards (sr.) added 18 points in the Delaware contest, highlighted by four three-point field goals.  Edwards, the Hornets' second-leading scorer at 13.1 ppg, has 15 three-pointers in the last four games. Jonathan Mitchell (sr.) is DSU's third leading scorer (8.6 ppg) and second best rebounder (5.4 pg).

 

The Hornets tied their season-high with 13 three-pointers vs. Delaware (13-for-27), while forcing the Hens into six-of-30 shooting from long distance in the game.

 

Weber State is looking to snap a there-game losing streak. The Wildcats are coming off a 75-63 home loss to Utah Valley last Saturday (Dec. 15). WSU trailed 41-23 at the break and could get no closer than 10 points in the second half. Jerrick Harding, a junior guard, is the team's top scorer at 19.4 points per game. Junior guard Cody John averages 16.7 points, while senior forward / center Zach Braxton contributes 10.4 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game. 

 

HORNETS vs. WILDCATS / BIG SKY  
This will be the first meeting between the Hornets and Wildcats. Delaware State is 1-2 all-time vs. current members of the Big Sky Conference. DSU's last contest against a Big Sky opponent was a 91-66 loss at Montana State on Nov. 26, 2016. The Hornets defeated North Arizona 58-53 in the 2006 post-season National Invitation Tournament for their lone win against a Big Sky team.
