2016: Key contributor to the secondary as a true freshman … appeared in all 11 games … tops among team freshmen and defensive backs, and fourth among DSU defenders with 53 total tackles ( 4.8 pg) … also credited with one tackle-for-loss, a pass break-up and pass deflection … third on the Hornets with 36 unassisted tackles … tied for game-high honors with a career-best 12 tackles (six solo) in season finale at Howard …  led all players with seven unassisted stops and 10 total tackles vs. Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 29) … also credited with a pass break-up in Bethune-Cookman contest … had six tackles (each unassisted), including one for a 10-yard loss, at South Carolina State (Oct. 22) … r recorded five solo tackles and an assist vs. Missouri (Sep. 24) … collected four tackles vs. Florida A&M (Oct. 15) and Hampton (Oct. 8) … scored DSU’s lone special teams touchdown of the season on a 13-yard blocked punt return vs. Monmouth (Sep. 10)   

High School: Three-sport standout at Barron Collier HS (football, baseball, track & field) … Florida All-State and All-Conference selection as a senior in 2015 … recorded 83 tackles (70 solo) and six interceptions during senior  season … two-year varsity football letterman … also earned All-State track & field honors as a senior … also competed on school’s varsity baseball team during senior year.   

Personal: Son of Mark and Terri Nichols … has one brother … member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes … born Sep. 30, 1997 in Naples, Fla. … switched to No. 11 this season after wearing 14 in 2016.
