2016: Second Team All-MEAC Preseason selection... Returned to action on April 11, after suffering a knee injury the previous season… Appeared in seven games, making four starts… Batted .286 with four hits and one RBI… Posted a .286 on-base percentage and a .286 slugging percentage.  

2015: Started all 40 games, until missing the final four due to a knee injury… Batted .295 in 122 at-bats with 36 hits, 22 RBI, five doubles, two home runs, one triple and 64 total bases… Scored 23 runs, drew five walks, went 3-for-4 in the stolen base department and totaled two sacrifice hits… Tallied eight multi-hit games, including a season-high four in DSU’s 19-12 win at Coppin State (April 13)… Scored two or more runs four times, including a season-high three in DSU’s 15-3 win at Virginia (March 20)… Recorded two or more RBI in six games, including a season-high six in DSU’s 19-12 win at Coppin State (April 13)… Maintained a season-long seven-game hit streak (April 7 – April 28)… Best Game(s): Went 3-for-4 with a run scored in DSU’s 8-7 loss at Virginia (March 21) during the UVa Home Tourney… In DSU’s 19-12 win at Coppin State (April 13), went 4-for-6 with three runs, six RBI, one homer and a stolen base… In DSU’s 12-0 five-inning win over Morgan State (April 15), went 2-for-3 with four RBI and a homer. 

2014: Started all 52 games… Batted .277 in 155 at-bats with 43 hits, 16 RBI, nine doubles (third most on the team), three home runs (fourth most on the team) and 61 total bases… Scored 23 runs, drew nine walks and tallied one sacrifice hit… Posted a .321 on-base and .394 slugging percentage… Tallied nine multi-hit games, along with driving in two or more RBI in four games… Held a season-long six-game hit streak twice (April 12 – April 18, April 26 – May 8)… Defensively, totaled 106 putouts, 70 assists and six errors for a .967 field percentage… In DSU’s 4-1 win over CCSU (March 21), went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored… In conference action (18 games), batted .442 with 23 hits, eight RBI, three doubles and three home runs… Scored 14 runs and drew eight walks… Maintained a .525 on-base and .673 slugging percentage… Defensively, registered 30 putouts, 25 assists and two errors for a .965 field percentage… In DSU’s 12-2 at Morgan State (April 6), went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a homer… In the Hornets’ 9-0 win over Norfolk State (April 18), went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored… In DSU’s 8-2 win at UMES (May 3), went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored… In the Hornets’ 8-4 win in eight innings at UMES (May 4), went 3-for-4 with a double, a RBI and a run scored… In DSU’s 9-2 loss to Bethune-Cookman in the MEAC Tournament (May 9), went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

High School: Four-year varsity standout in softball… As a freshman, was named Team MVP in volleyball, whereas her team in softball won the CIF Southern-Section Division II title… As a junior, earned Second Team All-Sierra League honors, while doing the same as a senior… Served as the Letterman Club secretary and treasurer.

Personal: Born April 23, 1995 in Whittier, Calif… Currently resides in Chino Hills, Calif.. Daughter of Julian and Kari Velez… Sister to Stephanie… Undecided on major.
