LONG BALLS DOOM HORNETS IN LOSS TO OWLS

Phila., Pa. (May 2, 2013) --- Temple smacked four home runs in an eight-run first inning of its 8-0 win over Delaware State at the Owls' Softball Stadium on Wednesday. Temple left fielder Annie Marcopolus led off the Owls' first with a homer and added a two-run shot later in the inning. TU's Stephanie Pasquale hit a two-run shot and Kelsey Dominik added a solo blast in the first to account for all the scoring in the game.

The Hornets had two hits in the contest, a single by Chloe Oro in the first and Jordan Stamps' leadoff single in the third.

Temple's Jess Mahony (7-10) was the winning pitcher. Delaware State starter Rachel Meagley (5-13) was tagged with the loss.

The Hornets will wrap up the 2013 regular season at home against Maryland-Eastern Shore this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon; and wrap up the series with a single game on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
