DSU AND NCCU SEEK FIRST MEAC VICTORY OF SEASON

DOVER, Del. - After four straight home games, the Delaware State University women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in a month as they travel to North Carolina Central University to take on the Lady Eagles at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Something has to give Saturday as the Lady Hornets are amidst an eight-game losing streak while NCCU currently rides a nine-game losing streak.  Both teams are also searching for their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory of the season; and for the Lady Eagles, the first of their MEAC tenure.

This past Monday, a couple of Lady Hornets (3-15; 0-5 MEAC) set career milestones, but it wasn't enough as Florida A&M defeated DSU, 84-65, at Memorial Hall. Freshman Chelsea Dukes tallied a new career-high 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and 2-for-3 from behind the arc in addition to 5-for-7 from the charity stripe as she surpassed her previous career-high of 15 points, set on Nov. 11 vs. Wesley. Dukes recorded 14 of her points in the second half. The guard also collected five rebounds, besting her previous career-high of three rebounds, set five times prior. Fellow freshman Keyanna Tate collected the first double double of her career, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds. The 10 rebounds is a career-high, her previous high of nine was set against Robert Morris on Nov. 27. The forward's career-high in points is 11, recorded twice so far this season. The loss was DSU's eighth straight, marking their longest losing streak of the season. The Lady Rattlers continued their hot-streak, with the win marking their 11th straight. They improved to 14-5 overall and 7-0 in conference action.

NCCU, in their first season as a full-fledged member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, is still searching for their first MEAC victory as they are 2-17 overall and 0-6 in conference play. The also do not have a DI victory on their plate this season as their two wins came against Morris (NAIA) and Coker (DII). Junior Chasidy Williams leads the team with an average of 14.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Delaware State leads the all-time series between the two teams, 1-0, with their lone matchup coming last season.  This is the first and only regular season game between the two teams.
