DSU?s DAVIS, JACKSON LISTED AMONG CIAA?s ALL-TIME GREATS

Dover, Del. (Jan. 25, 2012) ---Delaware State University Head Women's Basketball Coach Ed Davis and head men's coach Greg Jackson are listed among the "100 Greatest Athletes & Coaches" in the history of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIAA).

The CIAA, recognized as the nation's oldest Historically Black College & University athletics conference, recently announced the list of all-time league greats in conjunction with its 100th anniversary.

Before coming to Delaware State in 2000, Davis was head coach at CIAA member Bowie State University for eight seasons. During his tenure at BSU, he posted an overall record of 165-62, highlighted by three CIAA championships, four NCAA Tournament berths and numerous "coach-of-the-year" awards. Davis led the Bulldogs to five CIAA Northern Division regular season titles and four NCAA Tournament "Sweet 16" appearances. His 1997-98 squad reached No. 5 in the NCAA Division II national poll.

Davis was selected as No. 60 on the CIAA Top 100 list of greatest athletes and coaches.

Jackson also joined the Delaware State University coaching staff in 2000. During his playing days at St. Paul's, he was a four-year and three-time All-CIAA selection. Jackson tallied 2,249 career points, tops in St. Paul's history and No. 12 on the CIAA career scoring list at the time. As a junior during the 1979-80 season, Jackson led all collegiate players in scoring at 30.5 points per game. St. Paul's retired Jackson No. 23 jersey in 1991.

In addition, he spent nine years as head coach at CIAA member North Carolina Central University . Jackson posted a 163-77 record at NCCU, leading the Eagles to five CIAA division titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances. He also earned three CIAA Coach-of-the-Year awards.

Jackson was voted No. 66 on the CIAA list of all-time greats.
