DOVER, Del. - The Delaware State
University women's basketball team hosts Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference leader
Florida A&M University this evening at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall.
The
Lady Hornets, currently at 3-14 on the year and 0-4 in MEAC play, are amidst a
seven-game losing streak.
DSU
lost a heartbreaker this past Saturday as they led almost the entirety of the
game but were outscored, 15-7, in the final minutes of the game as
Bethune-Cookman took a 52-50 victory over the Lady Hornets. Junior Kianna
D'Oliveira (Newport News, Va.) posted her first double double of the year
and the second of her career with 10 points and 12 rebounds on the night.
After
starting the season 1-4, FAMU is currently 13-5 and 6-0 in the MEAC. The Lady Rattlers are riding a 10-game
winning streak, dating back to Dec. 16.
FAMU leads the conference with an average of 71.8 points per game and has
five players averaging in double figures.
Antonia Bennett's 19.0 points per game is best for both FAMU and the
MEAC. Additionally, Bennett leads both
with 9.6 rebounds per game.
The
Lady Rattlers lead the all-time series over DSU, 28-18. This is the first and lone regular season
game between the two teams.
