Dover, Del. (Dec. 3, 2010) --- The Delaware State men's basketball team will host long-time rival Maryland-Eastern Shore in the 2010-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opener for each team Saturday evening. Game time is 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
The Hornets are 2-3 this season. DSU is coming off competitive road losses to La Salle (61-65) and South Carolina (61-74) this week. The Hornets held a 14-point second half lead against La Salle and was ahead by two points at the half against South Carolina.
Maryland-Eastern Shore is 2-4 this season. The Hawks are coming off an 89-81 overtime win at Navy last Saturday.
Delaware State was second to Morgan State in the 2009-10 MEAC regular season race with an 11-5 mark in league play. The Hornets are 120-54 in the MEAC (.689) since the 2000-01 season.
The Hornets and Hawks split their two meetings last season, with each team winning on its home court. Delaware State holds a 49-44 lead in the all-time series.
