HORNETS BLANKED BY BRONCS

Dover, Del. (Sep. 8, 2010) --- Abi Cottam scored three first period goals to lead Rider to a 3-0 win over Delaware State in women's soccer at Alumni Stadium Wednesday evening.

The Broncs improved to 1-1-2 on the season, while the Hornets are winless in seven matches.

Cottam scored her first goal from 15 yards out off an assist by Meghan Mohr in the 17th minute. She tallied her second goal in the 23rd minute. Kaitlyn Wylie and Bridgette Bartkowski were credited with assists on the score.

Cottam closed out the scoring when she fired a shot from 30 yards away past Delaware State goal keeper Courteney Haas in the 32nd minute.

Rider outshot the Hornets 12 to 5 in the contest. The Broncs had nine shots on goal, compared to four for the Hornets.

Hass was credited with six saves for Delaware State.

The Hornets return to action on Sunday at home against St. Peter's. The match begins at 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
