Dover, Del. (Sep. 4, 2010) - The Delaware State volleyball team fell to Central Connecticut State and Buffalo on the opening day of the Buffalo Invitational on Friday.
The Hornets dropped their first match to Central Connecticut 3-2. Delaware State was ahead 2-games-to-1, but the Devils took the last two games to earn the match win. Central Connecticut won the deciding fifth game 15-12.
Martina Ferrari had 46 assists and 16 digs for the Hornets. DSU's Sonja Banicevic led all players with 35 digs. Sarah Wheatcroft topped the Hornets with nine kills. She also collected 17 digs.
Later in the day, Delaware State was shutout by host Buffalo 3-0 (19-25, 16-25, 21-25). Banicevic led the Hornets with 16 digs, while Ferrari had 15 assists and seven digs.
