Dover, Del. (June 14, 2010) --- Delaware State University Head Equestrian Coach Jennifer Ridgely has announced that six new riders will join the team in the 2010-11 season.
The list features five freshmen and one transfer student. Three of the newcomers are English riders and three will compete for the Western squad.
Among the newcomers to the DSU equestrian team is Smyrna High School product Taylor Scuse, sister of former Hornet Western standout Morgan Scuse.
"Taylor is a well-versed horsemanship rider and has performed across the country," said Ridgely. "I am extremely pleased with the highly skilled riders that will join our team next season. Each will be a tremendous asset to the squad."
The Hornets will also welcome Western riders Victoria Keen (Salem, N.J.) and Brittney Good (La Plata, Md.) to the team.
Delaware State's Western squad competed in the Varsity Equestrian National Championship for the first time this past season.
The Hornets have also added Erin Engard (Shamong, N.J.) along with Delaware products Brooke Mazjuin (Greenwood, Del.) and Lauren Voss (Smyrna, Del.) to the English team. Mazjuin previously attended Bridgewater College in Virginia.
Ridgely has also announced that members of the DSU equestrian team will perform at the Delmarva Chicken Festival this Friday (June 18) at 10:00 a.m. The two-day festival will be held this Friday and Saturday on the Delaware State University campus.
