Dover, Del. (Mar. 1, 2010) --- Delaware State freshman forward Marques Oliver has been recognized by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for the second straight week.
Oliver was named MEAC Men's Basketball Rookie-of-the-Week today after averaging 17 points, six rebounds and 2.5 blocks in two games last week. His top performance was a career-best 23-point effort in the Hornets 59-41 win over Coppin State on Feb. 22. He was 10-for-14 from the field, while blocking a career-high five shots in that contest.
The Durham, N.C., native was also named MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week on Feb. 22.
Oliver is averaging 5.5 points 3.3 rebounds per-game for the Hornets this season. He's shooting 57.7% from the field (56-for-97) and leads the team with 21 blocks, ranking 12th in the MEAC in the category (0.8 bpg).
Oliver and the Hornets will play their final regular season game this Thursday at home against Maryland-Eastern Shore. Game time is 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
