THE GAME
Delaware State begins a two-game road swing with a visit to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rival North Carolina A&T. The Hornets have won three straight, and seven of their last eight, to improve to 11-8 overall and 6-2 in the MEAC, good for second place in the conference standings. DSU is coming off a 54-45 home win over Howard last Monday. Freshman Marques Oliver scored a game-high 12 points and Greg Smith notched a career-high 10 to lead the Hornets. North Carolina A&T has lost two of its last three games, including a 74-65 setback to first place Morgan State in its last outing (Feb. 1). The Aggies are 7-15 overall and tied for eighth in the MEAC standings with a 3-5 mark in league games.
DSU VS. NCA&T SERIES HISTORY (NCA&T LEADS 52-27)
The teams are meeting for the 80th time since the 1966-67 season. Delaware State has won seven of the last nine meetings, although the Aggies hold a 52-27 lead during the span. The teams split two contests last season, with each winning on the road. The Hornets won last year's first meeting 78-64 in Greensboro, N.C. Frisco Sandidge had 21 points and 8 rebounds for DSU. The Aggies won last year's second meeting 74-73 in overtime at DSU's Memorial Hall. NCA&T's Tavarus Alston scored the game winning points on a three-pointer with :40 left in the extra frame. The Hornets committed a turnover with 14 seconds left and missed a shot at the final buzzer. DSU has won its last three games at the Corbett Center. This is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this season.
