Men's Basketball DSU Athletic Media Relations

Hornets and Eagles Battle Monday on ESPNU

Delaware State Men's Basketball (8-8, 3-2 MEAC) returns to Baltimore for the second time in three days, and will take on Coppin State (5-12, 0-5 MEAC) for the final game of a four-game road swing on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Coppin State Physical Education Complex.

The Hornets come off a tough loss on Saturday evening to Coppin's crosstown rival Morgan State, falling 72-62 to the defending MEAC Champions.  The senior tandem of forward Frisco Sandidge and shooting guard Marcus Neal combined for 45 points, but it wasn't enough to fell the Bears, who found a path to victory via the charity stripe.  The Bears shot 29-38 from the free throw line to just 10-12 for DSU.  The 22 made free throws in the second half by Morgan State helped erase a 39-26 advantage for the Hornets at halftime.

Coppin State limps into the contest having lost their last nine games, including opening MEAC play winless so far.  The Eagles lost 70-62 to Maryland Eastern Shore last Saturday.  Kareem Brown and Branden Doughty led all Eagles with 14 points each, Daughty doing so on 7-9 shooting from the floor.  CSU was down only three points at halftime, and took a lead in the second half before a 10-3 run by the Hawks put the game out of contention.

For the second time this season, DSU will play a nationally televised game on ESPNU.  The Hornets also faced Ohio State on ESPN's specialty network for college sports on Dec. 19th.  Hornets color analyst Greg Jackson Jr., former Hornet and son of head coach Greg Jackson, will be a part of the ESPNU broadcast team on Monday evening.

Fans can also catch the game via ESPN360.com over the internet, as well as following the radio broadcast on the DSU Radio Network, 1290 The Ticket and 1410 WDOV.
