DOVER, Del. - Football senior Nail Muradymov (Burtonsville, Md. and volleyball junior Jessica Croucher (Brisbane, Australia)
were named Monday the Delaware State University student-athletes of the week.
Muradymov
was also honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference this week for his play
in the Hornets' 28-23 win over Morgan State last Thursday. He was named the MEAC Offensive Lineman of
the Week after helping pave the way to the season-high 502 total yards in
Delaware State's fourth straight win.
Muradymov graded out at 95-percent on all of his blocking assignments
and also collected one pancake block. The
Hornets passed for 398 yards and rushed for 104 against the Bears; marking DSU's
highest yardage total since 2006.
With
the victory, Del State improved to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the MEAC, to tie for
second in the standings with North Carolina Central. The Hornets and Eagles meet this Saturday at
2 p.m. in Durham, N.C.
Croucher
finished a three-match week for the DSU volleyball team with an average of 12.7
kills and 12 digs with a .325 hitting percentage. In the Hornets' 3-2 win over Howard on
Sunday, the outside hitter collected her second straight double double with 17
kills and 18 digs. She is currently
ranked 30th in the NCAA with 0.41 aces per set while the Hornets as
a team are 13th overall at 1.62 per set.
The
win was DSU's first since Sept. 28 when the Hornets defeated the Lady Bison,
3-0, in Washington, D.C. With the
victory, Del State improved to 5-17 overall and 2-7 in the MEAC. The Hornets have finished the home portion of
their schedule and next travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on Coppin State at 7
p.m. Friday and Morgan State at 3 p.m. Sunday.
