DOVER, Del. - Football redshirt sophomore Davon Moore (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and women's
cross country senior Dashera Richardson
(Philadelphia, Pa. were named Monday the Delaware State University
student-athletes of the week.
Moore
recorded two interceptions for 113 yards for the Hornet defense in Delaware
State's 20-17 victory over reigning-MEAC Champion Norfolk State on Saturday at
NSU's Dick Price Stadium. The Hornets
sealed the win when Moore intercepted Jake Basmagian's pass at the DSU
11-yard-line with 29 seconds left in the game.
His first interception of the game, coming with 11:53 left in the fourth
quarter, led to the Hornets' game-winning score. He also collected eight tackles (six solo) in
addition to one break-up and one blocked pass.
With
the win, DSU snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 2-3 overall and
1-1 in the MEAC. The Hornets also halted
a three-game skid to the Spartans.
Delaware
State returns home this Saturday to host South Carolina State at 1:30 p.m. at
Alumni Stadium. The Hornets will
celebrate Parents/Hall of Fame Day at the game.
In
her first meet of the season, Richardson led the DSU women's cross country team
to their first victory with 25 points this Saturday at the Hornet Invite. Richardson finished second overall with a
time of 18:40.36 to earn two points for Delaware State.
The
Hornet men's and women's cross country teams wrap up their regular season this
Friday with a 4 p.m. race at the DSU Outreach and Research Facility in Smyrna,
Del.
