DSU's DAE-HON CHEUNG HONORED BY MEAC

Dover, Del. (Sep. 24, 2012) --- Delaware State University running back Dae-Hon Cheung (fr.; Coatesville, Pa.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for his performance in the Hornets' 24-22 loss to Florida A&M last Saturday.

Cheung was named MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week after rushing for a career-high 135 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in the contest. He had touchdown runs of 22 and 10 yards, in addition to first down runs of 26 and 14 yards.

His 135 yards rushing were the most by a DSU freshman since 1984, and the most by any DSU runner since Jaashawn Jones tallied 144 yards vs. North Carolina A&T in 2010.

Prior to last week's game, Cheung had 30 yards on just eight carries this season. He is second among all MEAC freshmen with 165 yards rushing this year.

Cheung started Saturday's Florida A&M contest in place of the Hornets' leading rusher Malcolm Williams, who sat out at the game due to a hamstring injury.  Williams is sixth in the MEAC with 236 rushing yards.

Delaware State (1-3; 0-1 MEAC) is idle this weekend. The Hornets will return to action on Oct. 6 at Norfolk State. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium.
