TARPLEY FEATURED BY COLLEGE FB PERFORMANCE AWARDS

Dover, Del. (Aug. 14, 2012) --- Delaware State University wide receiver/kick returner Travis Tarpley (r-sr.; Danville, Va.) is the subject of College Football Performance Award (CFPA) YouTube interview. Tarpley is listed among the top candidates for the 2012 CFPA Kickoff Returner/All-Purpose Player-of-the-Year.

He is among 37 players listed on the CFPA Kickoff Returner/All-Purpose Award "Watch List" for the 2012 Football Championship Subdivision season.

During the 2011 season, Tarpley was the MEAC leader in all-purpose yardage (1586) and all-purpose yards per-game (144.1). In addition, he was sixth in the league in kickoff returns at 20.5 yards per attempts last season.

As a receiver, Tarpley set a DSU record with 66 catches last season. He also set a school single-game mark with 13 receptions in the Hornets' 39-36 victory over Howard in last season's finale.

Tarpley was second in the MEAC in receiving yards (66.8 pg) and tied for second in receptions (6.0 pg) during the 2011 campaign.

Delaware State will kick-off the 2012 season at home against VMI on Sep. 1. Game time is 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.

This Sunday (Aug. 19) at 6:00 p.m., the Hornets will hold their annual "Community Day" at Alumni Stadium. Fans will be invited to the field for pictures and autographs with the players and coaches. The event will also feature food, music and giveaways, including free T-shirts to the first 100 fans age 14 and under.
